Beautiful Keran, located in Azad Kashmir
Last weekend my friends and I made a trip to Neelum Valley, Azad Kashmir. We started our journey around 4:00 am from Islamabad, We reached Muzaffarabad at around 8:00 am and had breakfast at a hilltop restaurant where we had a mesmerizing view of the entire city. Afterwards, we started travelling towards Keran city, we made stops at Dhani and Kutton waterfalls and enjoyed a lot at both the sites. We reached our Hotel in Keran at around 3:00 pm. We were amazed by the first few glimpses that we had of that area.
Keran is a village and tourist resort in Neelum Valley, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. At a distance of about 9 km from Athmaqam, Neelum (Keran) is situated on the Right Bank of Neelum River at about 1524 m above sea level, Keran is accessible by Neelam valley road, and is located at around 93 km distance from Muzaffarabad. It is located on the bank of Neelum River. It has quite a few fascinating sceneries. A small bazaar and tourist rest houses situated on the bank of meandering River Neelum across which one can have a glance at the other part of the Kashmir. The adjacent village on the other side of the Neelum River is also known as Keran.
After getting settled at the hotel, we started our hike towards Upper Neelum through a nearby hiking track. Keran is a part of the Lower Neelum and there are few hiking tracks of around 2 km length that can help you visit Upper Neelum (Neelum Village). The best part of getting to Upper Neelum was to be at a place where one could view the entire area of the other side of Kashmir. It was a great feeling to have a view of both parts of the Kashmir that are separated just by a river. Neelum Village is a panoramic lush green village, profound in wild fruit and wildlife. The local villagers were very humble, hospitable and cooperative.
