Xperience Pakistan believes in Social Enterprise
The key premise of our company is about creating unique experiences in Pakistan through which we can educate people of the true Pakistan and the array of things on offer. However we believe it’s important we do this with the locals in order to create jobs and encourage entrepreneurship amongst the community in Pakistan, particularly the youth and people in the rural areas or ones that have been affected by a disaster whether natural or manmade.
One such region is Swat, many of you will have heard of this through Malala. This is her home town, where unfortunately many people were displaced due to terrorism. Prior to the attacks this region had a thriving trade in handicrafts and embroidery. This is a community that by international standards is considered to be refugees because they have been displaced from their homes, they are looking to rebuild their lives not through charity but through employment and trade. Swat is much safer now, unfortunately their trade hasn’t resumed to the levels it was at prior to terrorism.
It is for this reason that we collaborated with Swat Valley Guild and Bizgees to create an experience that enables people to visit the ladies in this region. Our 7-day experience includes sight-seeing in Islamabad, Besham, Swat, Mingora & Malamjabba but also a 4 day workshop with the ladies in this region. On this experience, you observe first-hand the different processes involved in the making of a scarf from dying to weaving and embroidery. Over the 4 days not only will you enjoy some authentic meals & music but also make your own scarf using the processes used by these ladies.
Bizgees support up and coming British fashion designers, through their campaign called ‘Fashion Designers for Refugees’. The campaign helps highlight new and original designs to the public and enable the designers to raise some funds through a crowd funding campaign. The designer designs a limited-edition item bag, which is produced by the ladies of Swat, every purchase you provides 4 days of work for each lady and you assist aspiring fashion designers to realise their dreams . £60 from every experience purchased with us goes towards the Learning and Development of these ladies, to ensure that they produce products that are of an international standard.
If you are looking for something that’s different and fulfilling than we would recommend that you consider this trip. We are planning for a group in October, or if you are able to get together 10 friends than we can organize a separate private group for you.
Don’t just see it, experience it with Xperience Pakistan.
