After Islam came to South Asia, it became the center of learning, and attracted some of the region’s greatest mystics, writers and artists. After independence, Lahore became the capital city of the most populated province of Pakistan; Punjab. Punjab means the land of five rivers.
Allama Iqbal International Airport is located about 20-30 minutes from the city centre. Taxis and shuttles are available to take passengers from the city to the airport. The new proposed Lahore Orange line is linked from different parts of the city to the airport.
Lahore is one of the liveliest cities of Pakistan. From the historic walled city, to majestic Mughal structures and mosques, Lahore offers amazing heritage and rich history. Along with its history, the people of Lahore are known to love their food, which is why it would be a crime not to try the amazing selection of exotic street food on offer. The hop-on hop-off open-top double-Decker bus is one of the best ways to explore the ancient side of Lahore. It currently runs twice a day and takes almost two hours, with traffic. It covers more than 30 landmarks; beginning at the Gaddafi Stadium (Liberty Chowk) in the south-east of the city and ending in the north-west, at the Minar-e-Pakistan. You can also visit Wahga Border (a newly added route) where you will experience patriotism at its peak!
